Florence is such a landmark of the western culture, a must for every tour, that you might have been there already before, as a student, a honeymooner, or on a group tour. Yet exploring the old streets, and squares, is always a pleasure, as well as finding something more to taste, or see. Our private Florence tour has a special eye to the hangouts of foodies, and wine lovers. Walking leisurely, how could we not to see the most celebrates buildings, statues, Renaissance churches ? of course, they are everywhere. We can start in S. Croce beautiful square, taste “the” Vivoli gelato, or taste the finest chocolate cup at historical Rivoire, sitting in Piazza Signoria, just in front of unique staues, and of Palazzo Vecchio. We pass by the Duomo, and aim to S. Lorenzo, the more popular street market, great place for a genuine, casual lunch, or at least for for an apéritif. Aperitivo, as we say, in the most classic vinaio, Casa del Vino, or Zanobini, and why not both? Lunch, then, upstairs the old food market. In the new food hall, in many small gourmet stands you can sample the finest Tuscan and Italian regional food. Pasta, steak, fish, mozzarella, desserts, cheese and salami, you name it, from the best of the best quality producers. We walk Via Tornabuoni, ignore the fancy shops, cross teh river and reach the more majestic Pitti Palace. We might end visiting Boboli, the more classic italianate gardens, or just try a different glass, at Le Volpi & l’Uva enoteca. The stronger ones, may decide to walk uphill to Piazzale Michelangelo, even up to S.Miniato church, toseeits great frescoes, and enjoy the best, wide angle view of the whole Florence underneath. Then downhill to reach S. Niccolò, for a last wine glass at enoteca Fuori Porta, before a well-deserved break, and a gourmet dinner in a Tuscan trattorìa.
