Italianwinetours creates really customized tour, tailor made on your choices as to the blend of culinary and wine tasting experiences, lodgings quality and cultural contents. The rates are, consequently variable. However to give you a specific reference rate, we offer our Classic tour package, which offer, too, the best value price. This is, as we learned over 25 years, what most of our curious gourmet and wine fans prefer: 2 wine tasting per day, 1 slowfood, gastronomic meal per day, 4 stars hotels blended with nice 3 stars and agriturismi, see below. To date 2024, our Classic Tours cost € 400/day/person for minimum 4 participants.

The Classic Tours in the bigger regions with a variety of local specialties, wines, landscapes, or cities to see - Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily, Veneto - require 8 days, and cost € 3,200, in double occupancy. Yet, 10-12 days is the ideal length, if you can, to experience and enjoy a really full-immersion in the particular region's character and atmosphre. With the 10 and 12 days tours, we offer a free day, to get a break, relax or do what you like better!

The 2 wine tasting per day formula, considering that you will practically have a wine tasting lunch per day, is perfect to allow enough time for sightseeing, possible cooking classes, and some time on your own, to relax, shop or go to a nice museum.

What makes the difference between this travel mode and the others, are first of all the lodgings type, and also the inclusion of one or two chef menus in the more expensive tours.

Note on the lodgings that we choose: we hand-pick are a mix of 3 and 4 star hotels, usually small, and run by local people. The food is traditional, they are often old villas, farmhouses, or mansions, part of the local architecture. In brief, they have character, and they are part of local experience, same as the wines that we are going to discover. We select hotels in the center of town. Or also agriturismo (country resorts) in the more scenic locations. This is a great option if you like to stay away from the cities, in complete quiet. They are villas, or farmhouses, or wineries, with their own restaurant, and as comfortable as the hotels.

HOW THE TOUR WORKS

Daily shedule example. Start at 09 am, return to the hotel by 5 or 6 pm. The day includes 2 or 3 wine tasting, a relaxed lunch, and time for sightseeing, cultural visits, or shopping in case. The transfers are short, usually 2-3 hours total in the whole day. This schedule is the same for the three travel modes, but can, of course, be changed at your preference.

Wine tastings. On a typical day there is time to visit 2 or 3 wineries, and taste 10 to 15 wines. And 2 more during the meal included. In the older wine regions there is an amazing variety of historical estates, castles, monasteries, noble mansions, and also new designer wineries. And small boutique wineries and rustic farmhouses too. To give you a complete range of experiences, we select the best of each type, but we do not have a fixed choice and a routine tour. A visit and tasting takes between one and two hours, depending on the estate’s size, on how many questions you ask, and, eventually on the winemaker’s mood that day! Altogether no less than 5 hours are dedicated to the wine experiences. If you prefer a more intensive tasting, like wine professionals do, just let us know.

Meals. We include one meal per day, one day lunch, the next day dinner for example. A full 4 courses Italian meal, with 2 local DOC wines, and we suggest what we regard as the more distinctive, seasonal, and local dishes. Yet you can always order at you taste.
